Answer: His dad gave Jimmy a watch.
OR
Answer: Jimmy's dad gave him a watch.

They are so similar, but I do think the first one is the correct answer.
Both are correct English, although I think #2 is the more common of the two.
In casual spoken English, we usually don't repeat all the words from the question. We just say eg
Question: Who gave Jimmy a watch?
Answer: His dad.
