Another word for "bounty hunter"

Yesterday, I could have sworn I remembered a Latin-based word which meant "bounty hunter". But now I can't remember any such word in English. Was I hallucinating or is there indeed one?

I suppose that could work in some situation. But as far as films and TV go, "bounty hunter" conveys the idea in most situations where bounty hunting is going on.
