another question about the usage of THE

I came across some articles in which they don't place THE before adj+est or most + adj.

why?

I was taught, however, that we should put THE before them.

Could u please explain this to me and gimme some examples?

A. Lake Michigan is (the?)deepest near the southern end.(compared to all the lakes near the southern end?)
B. She was (the?)sexiest when she was wearing only Chanel #5.
C. Rate of *** disease in US is (the?)highest in developed world.(compared to other countries in developed world?)

D. I find most excellent somewhat strange. Isn't excellent already a superlative?

Hello DavidR

I use the term "self comparison" in the meaning that one compares a person or thing in one occasion with the same person or thing in another occasion. On the other hand, "relative comparison" is to compare a person or thing with another person or thing.

Comparative
(1) Jane is happier than Anna. [relative comparison]
(2) Jane is happier in her bed than elsew

You move between being very flexible and getting a bit stuck in your habitual ways of approaching things, ways that may be appropriate or most effective (the most effective?) for the situation at hand.

Tks for answering
