Another Past and Present

Are there uses for the sentence "Why do you stop"?
I usually heard "Why did you stop", but is the sentence above correct? If it is, when do we use it?

Same goes with "Those glasses makes you look ridiculous" and "That glasses made you look ridiculous". Are they both correct? When do we use the present and the past form, because I often heard the use of them both, and they seem to carry the same meaning.

I can't offhand think of a natural context for "Why do you stop" except in a context such as "Why do you stop work at four o'clock on Fridays?"
