Another half hour [and] we'll be at our destination

We've been on the road for four hours. Another half hour and we'll be at our destination.

I'd like to know how "and" can connect a noun phrase and a complete clause.
Thank you in advance for your help.

This is elliptical. " The words "We shall drive for" and "then" are omitted for brevity's sake and are understood from the context.
