I am living Israel, Israel has many special customs, for example Purim, Pushover, Shavuot and Rosh Hashanah, most of those costumes are Jewish costumes that have saved for many decades.
Once of the most important and interesting custom from my country is definitely "Yom Kippur” all Yom-Kippur are the same .Yom Kippur is two days which nobody work, all the stores are close (the law prohibits), People don't use electricity devices, people who do electricity devices don't have anything to watch on TV and most of the Web site are off. Most of the people are fasting, the fast is for 25 minutes, the main goal of this custom is to get forgiven from all the bad things that you have ever done on the last year, if you hurt somebody, even you didn't know or by mistake, you ask for his forgiven, and you fast to show that you are really mean it.
All the sequence are also special in this custom, every Yom-Kippur morning of the first day nobody works, so there is a time for cooking, then you sitting and eating with the family the meal before the fast. After the meal you always dressing white and go to the Synagogue, at the Synagogue there are special Yom-Kippur prayers. After the Synagogue you meet with your friends in a place that you set up before (we don't use phones in this day) then you walking all over the street, the roads are empty because nobody drives, so there are plenty of people on the street walking, and you meet with old friends and you catch up with them. Then at the middle of the night you go to sleep and hop to sleep till the end of the fast, because the next day is hard, you hungry, weak and bore. At the end of the fast you eat something not heavy, and you are happy that god "signs".
I am not religion, I am not fast at all, don't believe in god. But I do have a respect for this custom.
