Another day

Is it correct in English to start a sentence as it follows:

"Another day..."

For instance:

"I remember first seeing that homeless man picking any leftovers at McDonald's.

Another day, he was sleeping on the beach, lying on the shingles."

Note: By 'shingles', I mean 'stones', like these ones: https://fieldrecordings.xyz/2021/02/03/shingle-beach-newhaven-uk-in-january-2021-by-sam-care/

That use of "shingle" is practically unknown in the US. In the UK, I believe it is a mass noun only, like "gravel". Your man was lying on the shingle, not the shingles.
