Baxter wants to catch him before another 24 hours are up.

Could they be explanations to the previous sentence?

Thank you for your reply. Why should I use 'these' instead of 'they'? Is it just because I'm not substituting anything?

By the way what is 'up' grammatically speaking in this sentence? Is it an adjective?
