Annoying articles

Hi everyone,

Can one of you helpful native English speakers help me with this?

1. Returning an item at the store:
"We can offer you a replacement or a refund."
"Thanks, I think I will go with a/the refund".

I think either is okay. A refund is any refund, 'the' is the one just offered. I don't see how either one is an error in this context.

2.
"If offered an apple or a banana, which would you prefer?"
"A/the banana.

I think "the" is a bit better (it's the banana that's offered), but I think "a banana" wouldn't be wrong either, the implication being that any banana is preferable to an apple.

3. "Would you like a glass of wine or a beer?"
"I'd love a beer."

I think "a beer" is much better, but "the" is not totally incorrect either (the beer offered)

I'd love the opinion of a native English speaker!
