Please help me correct the following paragraph.
Ms. Yu points out that they had interviewed the local aged and got to know it was “poverty-stricken” when Zhao-Dong Elementary School was founded 50 years ago. Due to economic environment was very poor, even the school holding events or anniversary celebrations, school teachers had to rack their brain to use of the surrounding materials to arrange contest facilities. Therefore, they devised the game of “crawling through the ladder.” As shown in the picture, the school’s first year students with a conical hat crawled through the ladder which was put flatways.
