Thank you for correcting. But I would glad to know from my sentence which I used ( ...the island tries to search...). Please tell me which is the proper use, try or tries? Just for my knowledge.

people try ... 'people' indicates more than one person, and 'tries' only goes with a singular noun (one person or thing).
