Hello again,
Would you please be kind enough to tell me which one of these are correct?
As you see in this question of mine I have focused on objects and animals.

1. Animals of the world.
2. Animals of the world's.
3. The tire of the car.
4. The tire of the car's.

May I know why "A friend of Alex's" is correct but 2 and 4 aren't? Is that because of relationship?

It's because Alex is a person, and the world is not a person, and a car is not a person.

The grammatical pattern OF ---'S almost always goes with a person.

a friend of Jane's; an acquaintance of Professor Smith's; a roommate of Lucy's

Or with a possessiv

That was a very, very bad example. In my opinion the writer was not very good at explaining, and I think he just confused everybody by using "a cup of water's", which is wrong, because he couldn't think of a proper example. In your place, I would ignore that post.
