Animal in zoo_ Advantages and Disadvantages (both sides)

Nowadays, it is becoming more popular to see animals to be kept in captivity, for instance, the zoo

Do the advantages of keeping animals in the zoo outweigh the disadvantages?

There is a concern that keeping animals in capacities such as zoos and theme parks is predominant in many parts of the world. Personally, I believe that this phenomenon can have more merits than its detrimental sides.

There is no doubt that there are various negative impacts associated with the popularity of animals in man-made cages. One of them is that poor species will suffer from losing their instinctive behaviors after being kept and cared for a long time by humans. As they get used to the availability of adequate food and care from humans, they tend to forget their natural instinct. Moreover, the animals are not able to adapt if people bring them back to their natural habitat. They are more likely to depend on an artificial environment and care rather than come back to their forests.

It should be noted, however, that the tendency can benefit both animal and human organisms. Firstly, those animals will have a safe shelter with sufficient food supplies and guards that can help protect them against illegal coaches and bad conditions for their development in their natural habitat. Zoos or theme parks seem suitable places to support and foster them, especially endangered species. Furthermore, the inhabitants will have more opportunities to learn about wild animals and raise their awareness about environmental protection. Instead of traveling to remote locations to study them, the man-made captivity will be a visual display for people to visit and interact with.

In conclusion, I personally believe that those advantages of keeping animals in captivity, such as conversation and studies, will exceed those disadvantages in terms of losing the animal's instinct and dangerous impacts from nature and humans.
