anesthesia drip or injection

How to ask doctor this question correctly?

When local anesthesia, does the doctor inject you anesthetia drug or do they put you an anesthetia drip infusion for the duration of the operation? I would think drip is better becuase if the ejection wears off, it's not good.

Just discuss this with the anesthesiologist who will be present with the surgical team. The anesthesiologist will explain what drugs will be used, how they will be administered, how they will monitor your condition during the procedure and how long it will take for you to recover from these drugs. There is no one answer, because the process will depend on the type of surgery.
