Hi

Please tell me what is the difference in the meaning.

She spoke eloquently and/while her sister spoke nervously.

"while/whereas" is used to introduce contrast.

Ivanhr is correct, "while" is used to show direct contrast. Using "and" does not put any emphasis on the contrast.
