And whatever/or whatever?

With such a pen friend, I think I can share with her our travel experiences, pet care tips, and whatever we have in common.

With such a pen friend, I think I can share with her our travel experiences, pet care tips, or whatever we have in common.

I think both "and" and "or" are correct. But my exercise book says only "or" is correct. Could you explain why "and" is not correct?
Thank you.

With "and", one would normally expect "... and whatever else we have in common". The implication is that you already know that you are both interested in travel and pets.
