In a book entitled "Labratory manual for the examination and processing of human semen" there are two subsections. One says: Statistical procedures for analysing and reporting within - and among - technician systematic errors. And the second says: Statistical procedures for analysing and reporting among - technician variability.
I'm not sure I understand what they actually say. I understand the part "Statistical procedures for analysing ..." but the rest is rather unclear to me. Do you understand it?

Except the fact that I don't know what the author was trying to say I also have a feeling that something is wrong with the second sentence. I don't understand why there is a hyphen between "among" and "technician".
