"And" or "But"

The airport is more than 200 square kilometres in size _____ is always very crowded.

What can we use the blank? "and" or "but"?

Top answer

Potentially either, depending on whether you want to suggest that more area might be expected to mean less crowded. 200 km 2 seems far too large. Are you sure that figure is correct?

Either one, but I think they want "but" to show contrast.

Anything that large should be large enough so that it's never crowded. Nevertheless, it's always crowded.
