Hi,

If I want to say 'confrontation between Socialist states and Capitalist states,' which of the following is/are valid?

"Confrontation between nation-states flying the Socialist or the Capitalist flag."

"Confrontation between nation-states flying the Socialist and the Capitalist flag."

"Confrontation between nation-states flying the Socialist and the Capitalist flags."

Thank you. But if I really want to use the "flying the flag" construction, could you suggest an acceptable way of phrasing it? I have already used the original structure in a previous sentence and I would like to inject some variation in the way I express myself.
