Would you use parentheses, instead of semicolons, in these? Again, I think number one looks better and cleaner. Your thoughts? And would you omit the serial comma as I did?
1. Attending the birthday party were Beth Ann (9), Garry (6) and Hector (5).
2. Attending the birthday party were Beth Ann, 9; Garry, 6; and Hector, 5.
