1. Does "not many listeners last long enough to entertain that possibility" imply "some listeners are not patient enough to listen to this type of music for a longer time so that it can evoke reflection in them"?

2. Does "and should also be in any sociology of the arts" mean "and meaning should exist and be considered in any sociology of the arts" or "and meaning should be fundamental to any sociology of the arts"?

3. Does "and not that Adorno was correct in his judgments" mean "and that Adorno was not correct in his judgments"?

In Adorno’s interpretation, Schoenberg’s music is intended to jolt reception out of those familiar patterns, to shock the listener and evoke reflection, even if it evokes a feeling of revulsion. One immediate problem, of course, is that not many listeners last long enough to entertain that possibility. The same may be said of any avant-garde work. My point is primarily that meaning is fundamental to art and should also be in any sociology of the arts and not that Adorno was correct in his judgments.
