'and' joining unequal sentence parts

You'll regret it, maybe not now, but soon, and for the rest of your life.

What does 'and' join here? (Since conjunctions are meant to join equal sentence parts, not an adverb to a preposition).

Is it acceptable only in informal contexts perhaps?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

I was aware of that, but I thought they had to match in form, not function... I guess I was wrong...

I see. Well, your sentence seems good English to me, as do these other examples that I just made up at random:

"It exploded suddenly and without warning."

"I woke up late and in a foul temper."

They seem fine to me also. That's why I asked the question. If they're good enough for you, they are good enough for me. I thought maybe they were acceptable only in informal contexts. Cheers.
