Please tell me if these two is OK.

He did not like writing ghost stories, and however,  he was chasing inspiration for it as he needed to write one.

The second is better. Both "and" and "however" are conjunctions. You can only use one at a time. I would also add that while "chasing inspiration" is understandable, it sounds a little odd. I think the normal phrase would be "seeking inspiration."
