And

"The tall guys and the short guys"
"The tall and short guys"
"The tall and the short guys"

Does the third sentence work? Does it carry exactly the same meaning as the first? Also, is the second sentence illogical because it seems to be referring to guys who are both tall and short and same time?

Thank you

They are all synonymous in meaning. I know that it is sometimes difficult when you are studying hard, but please try to separate grammar from real life: a person cannot be both tall and short.

When you said they were all synonymous in meaning did you mean all three sentences were valid, or were you referring only to the first and the third sentences? Or were you saying that even the second sentence was acceptable because sensible people would interpret it in the right way?
