Anaphora ?

Hello,

As a Higher English student, I am always keen to learn new figures of speech. Whilst browsing the internet, I came across a site which provided an extensive list. After sieving through them, and memorising them - I then passed this list onto my teacher.

Why is it she didnt know what an Anaphora was? Is it a word which is now never used?

Thank you.

Hi, There are a lot of those kinds of words that are never or seldom heard or read. I'm not surprised that your teacher didn't know this particular one. I'm sure, however, that he/she is familiar with the aspect of language that the term describes.
