Analyses of the text

In Flower Drum Song, a Chinese woman comes to America to wed a nightclub owner who really doesn't want this marriage (arranged by his mother through an exchange of photos). The film depicts the communication barriers created by the cultural differences between those raised on traditional Chinese values and those raised on American values as well as between the generations. In this unit we consider a wide variety of communication barriers, visible not only in this film but in just about any film where there are interpersonal differences and conflict.

I think "difference" is implied before "between the generations," and that I can deduce the Chinese woman is at least 10 years younger then the nightclub owner from "as well as between the generations."
I'd like to know if my assumptions are right.
And I'd also like to know why there is comma before the objective complement "visible" of "consider."
Thank you in advance for your help.
