Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to apply for a study-abroad period of 6 months, under the Erasmus program, during the spring semester (Feb-Jul 2013).
My name is Xxx Xxx, I am a 24-year-old student from Italy. Currently I am finishing my Master’s studies in Chemical Engineering at Università xxx.
In high school I graduated with chemistry, physics and mathematics as my majors so I chose to persist in studying these subjects and inevitably, this brought me to choose Chemical Engineering as my degree. My decision has already been rewarded by the fact that I got the Bachelor’s degree rapidly and with the maximum score.
I consider myself a hardworking student and thanks to this I have had great performances. I am always ready to learn new things, especially those ones which represent a challenge for me. So, now I would like to prove myself living and studying abroad.
Fortunately my department, in particular the “xxxx” group, is involved in an active collaboration with the NameUniversity’s group of “xxxx”. On this basis has been built my thought to spend 6 months studying in NameUniversity’s laboratories, in order to write the Master’s thesis, under the supervision of Prof. Xxxx.
The Erasmus program seems to be the perfect opportunity to make this happen, to try out your outstanding educational systems and research methods, to get to know new techniques of analysis, besides enjoying your excellent facilities. On the human point of view I am sure that this experience will help me to gain more independence and, due to the fact that I will meet people of different nationality and culture, it will be useful to open my mind. Furthermore a period abroad will increase my fluency in English speaking and, why not, also my knowledge in Xxxx language.
Definitely all this things will enrich my curriculum vitae so it might be easier for me to get a job in the next future.
Thank you for considering my application, and I look forward to your acceptance.
Yours sincerely.
