We use an when the noun following it has a vowel sound. Sometime we we us an for words atarting in h when the h is silent. For example, half an hour, but we a a horse.

Alright thanks a lot. but when do we actually use it with letter in the consonant or with with single letter in alphabet?? For instance like give me an S (es), or give me an M (em); and what other letters that begin with an instead of "a"?
