An online retailer had mentioned that they give the lowest price

Hi

I remember once an online retailer had mentioned that they give the lowest price and if you can find the lower price, then they will reduce their price further to make it still the lowest. But they used a particular term for this concept. Do you know any term related to this concept? Please let me know. Thank you.

That's frequently called a "price-match guarantee".

@CSnyder: Yes, "price-match guarantee" is the term I came across once.

Hi,

If you match a price, you equal it. You don't beat it, ie you don't offer a lower price.

Thank you, Clive, for making it clear to me. I was wrong when I read that label. I thought they were saying that they would lower their price.

Best wishes

Hi,

I thought they were saying that they would lower their price.

They will lower their price, if they match someone else's price. They just won't lower it past that point.

Perhaps you have the wrong idea of what the verb 'lower' means?

Hi,

Yes, I did have the wrong idea. But I'm still in confusion. If I were able to find some other retailer which lists less price, then they will lower their price than the listed price of 'other retailer'. Is this correct? Would you please tell me what the part "past that point" means? Thank you.

If you 'low
