An old saying

There's an old saying (or so I think), which I believe originates in English, that expresses that no men can live completely disconnected from others or the outside world, and it has the world "island" in it. I don't neccesarily need the whole saying, but just the part where it describes the alone man......I recall it has something to do with "island", "man of an island" maybe?

Thanks in advance

" No man is an island No man is an island entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main; if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as any manner of thy friends or of thine own were; any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind. And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee. John Donne

"No man is an island."

It's part of the same poem/sermon/statement that has been paraphrased as "do not ask for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee."

Thank you so much, GG and Mr. Wrody. I appreciate it.

By the way, what does the new button/funtion "thank this user" on the top of a post/reply do? I tried it just now, but it didn't seem to do anything on this page? Anyone know how it works?

Hi Raen

When you use the "thank this user" button, your thank-you will appear on the person's "wall" in their profile.

I see. Thank you, Yankee.

Since we are at it, could I continue to ask you more about the new outfit of the site. I'm just a little confused......but not complaining, don't get me wrong.

Take GG post for instance, this is almost like a supernatural experience, I first read her post saying, only and only this,

"No man is an island"

Then, next I read it, it has th

Hi Raen

Well, I do know that right now you often have to "refresh" your browser in order to see the most recent version of a thread. (The forum's programming gurus are currently working on fixing that as far as I know.) It's possible that Barb edited (added to) her first post after she had already posted "No man is an island". As to the rest of the mysterious disappearances/reappearance

If you mean "refresh" in the sense I understand it, then this will always be the case. The server will not "push" updated pages to you if you don't request them (and it would be very disconcerting if it did). There is definite
