AN ITEM FOR 2 MORE YEARS

- When I was fourteen, I started dating a boy named Pat who was sixteen. At the age of 16, and after living in two different foster homes, Pat invited me to live with his family. We were an item for 2 more years until we broke up and I moved out.

- What does "an item" mean in this situation?

Thanks very much to Teachers,

Pat, who was sixteen. (A comma is needed after Pat.)
