Vocabulary

An issue of a magazine

Hello everybody.
Can you please help me figure out if this sentence is correct?

"Having closed the entries of the last issue of the magazine, I seize the opportunity to do some chores that have been put off for a long time.

Is it correct to say "closing the entries of the issue of a magazine"?
Are there more appropriate words than "close" or "entries" in journalistic language?

I have one more question. What is the word for work that has been put off for a long time?

Thank you very much in advance.
