An interview for sth / to do sth

Hello there. I have a question.

Regarding the following two sentences:

(A) If Ken had passed an interview for studying abroad, his life after that would have been quite different.

(B) If Ken had passed an interview to study abroad, his life after that would have been quite different.

Are they both correct? In fact, I'm particularly unsure about (B). Besides, is there any better way to describe this idea?

Both are okay, but delete the superfluous "after that".
