An inquiry into | An inquiry about

Hi there,

Would you guys say the following two sentences have the same meaning? Or is one of them grammatically incorrect?

1) I would like to make an inquiry into the insitutions transfer program.

2) I would like to make an inquiry about the institutions transfer program.

Appreciate your time.

I find them both odd, as if you were an investigator or a senate committee. I think you mean this: I would like to ask about the institution's transfer program.

Then I think only 'inquiry into' is acceptable.
