We are now live in a digital age when most people spend much time using the Internet for communication and making new friends. While some people believe that this trend could lead to social isolation, I agree with who argues that this much more has helped connect us together.

On the one hand, there are variety reason why people suppose the Internet has made us becoming more isolated. Firstly, technological advances with the developments of social platforms have made humans addicted to checking their phone. Especially, the youngster who spends almost time chatting online in lieu of interacting face-to-face with their family and friends are separating themselves from the real world. Secondly, using the Internet all the time could make it hard to find a true friend who is willing to help us when we are in trouble. Lastly, this trend leads people to experience the feeling of depression and isolation when they realize that they have many virtual friends while there is no one in real life to share joy and sadness with.

On the other hand, it seems to me that the Internet has had more positive impact in the field of communication. It is clear that due to technological breakthrough we have a chance to expand our network. We can easily use social media to meet new friends all around the world. For example, with Facebook, we can send a request to people in other countries just by a click. Moreover, the Internet makes the way we communicate to become faster. Instead of writing a long detailed letter like in the past, which takes several days or a week to reach the receiver, we can use Internet to send a message or make a call in seconds. Thus, we can easily keep in touch with our lover which strengthens our relationship.

In conclusion, although the Internet makes people are becoming more isolated to some extent, it seems to me that this still has much more positive benefit to bring us close together.
