An hour's crack

The declaration gave the Indian bowlers an hour's crack at the Bangladeshi batsmen. Zaheer Khan made good use of the hour, but he was let down by the fieldsmen, particularly - and somewhat surprisingly - VVS Laxman in the slips. Laxman dropped two chances off Zaheer, and to compound matters tore his webbing and had to go off the field after the second drop. Zaheer had already given India the first breakthrough, getting Imrul Kayes to edge behind in his second over. Ishant then capped a good day for India by snaring Shahriar Nafees, who had benefited from the earlier drops as Bangladesh's already tough task got tougher.
