To the best of my knowledge, it was correct to say 'an hotel' because in the past the 'h' was silent. However, in modern English, the 'h' is pronounced. Hence, it should be 'a hotel'.

Hi Begae,

Consider this.

An is used before the words that begin with a vowel sound.

Thus, we say

an ugly man

a unique woman

an hour

Best wishes, Clive
