An H...

This may be specious, but I seem to remember reading somewhere that using 'an' with some words beginning with an 'h' is no longer acceptable as in "This book an historical fiction." It this true?

If the h is pronounced, a is proper. In this case, it would simply depend on how one pronounces the word in question, and both pronunciations are considered are correct.
