An extension request email (Please review. Thanks!)
Hi everyone. Below is an email I intend to send to my dissertation supervisor. Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Hi XX,
I was wondering if it would be okay to ask for a three-week extension for my dissertation deadline. I was notified by the embassy last week that I have been allocated a seat on a charter flight flying back to XX, which will depart on this Thursday. Considering the current restriction on international travel, I really don't want to miss this flight, but this also means that I will need to spend the next 20 days on preparation, travelling and mandatory quarantine. Since I have also been distracted by packing and related paperwork from last week, it would be really helpful if I can have three more weeks to make up for all the time lost.
Please let me know if this new deadline fit with your schedule. I will then write to the office right away.
