Hi
I am not necessarily talking about flattery but there are people in every office who try to appear extra good in the boss' eyes--at times by being over-efficient.
Is there any expression for this in everyday English? In fact, there is one in my language whose literal translation would be something like this.
She's all the time trying to improve her marks/grades in the boss' eyes. (=just like that student who tries to improve his grades...)
Thanks,
Tom

Have a look at this one, especially the list of synonyms. These may not be exact matches, but they are probably the closest English equivalents you can find.
