"We are each of an unsocial ,taciturn disposition , unwilling to speak ,unless we expect to say something that amaze the whole room ,and be handed down to posterity with all eclat of proverb" i didn't get the meaning of the second part( from and be handed....) ,for the record it's an extract from Pride &Prejudice .
