an exited story

He kept telling an excited story all afternoon.

Is this idiomatic?

I guess this is idiomatic and it means that he kept telling a story in which the subject is excited.

Thanks in advance.

I think his story may have been "exciting", being about exciting events, and causing the listeners to be excited. Excited=feeling excitement. Exciting=causing excitement.
