An exam I took OR the exam I took(article)

A: How have you been?

B: I have studied linguistics that is one of the subject in the exam I took lately.

Q) Is the underlined OK? (If it changes to "an exam I took", is it wrong?)

I kind of have asked a similar question but I don't still get the hang of complicated use of article.
