This is a question from an English test.
It requires choosing the most suitable word to fill in the blank.

The Deputy Prime Minister felt particularly angry at how he had been ( ) in the media.

(a) reasoned (b) stood (c) dressed (d) portrayed

The answer is (d). I understand that, but to me (a) seems to make sense too.
