Is 'an array of' singular or plural?


Do we say an array of ideas appears in my mind or an array of ideas appear in my mind?

Singular.

An array of ideas appears in my mind.

Don't confuse the subject with 'of phrase'. The subject comes before 'of phrase' only if it does not indicate a proportion i.e a lot of, a majority of, all of, some of etc. In these cases the subject comes after the 'of phrase'.
