An apple dropped from the tree.

I don't understand the difference between drop and fall.
What's the difference between the following two sentences?

#1. An apple dropped from the tree.
#2. An apple fell from the tree.

I can't find any difference.

In this case, there is no difference, because both are intransitive (no direct object). However, I dropped the apple is transitive, apple being the direct object of the verb dropped . I hope this helps.
