Letter Writing

an answer to question

Hi teachers! I wrote an answer to a series of question. It is about the difference between stative verbs and dynamic verbs. Hope you could give me some advice on my writing, especially on grammar and the usage. Appreciate for your help ;D

The first pairs of the above verbs are stative verbs so they cannot form progressives, imperatives, and pseudo-cleft sentences while the second pairs freely form those sentences. So the grammaticality contrast arises in these sentences: ‘I am *hearing/listening what you are saying’, ‘*Hear/Listen to what your teacher says’ and ‘What she did was *hear/listen to the teacher.
The appropriate verb forms for (1) and (3) are ‘tastes’ and ‘am tasting’, respectively. The sentence including (1) expresses a stative meaning where the food usually tastes food. Meanwhile, the sentence with (3) denotes a dynamic meaning and the following clause ‘it’s delicious’ indicates that the action is taking place at the moment of speaking. As for (2), ‘am looking at’ and for (4) ‘am listening to’ is appropriate. The reason is that both sentences express active meaning with action in progress hence, they are in present progressive form.
