An analogy is effective...

Hi

I don't know why but I find the original version somewhat confusing. Is my verson correct? Do you find original version correct and natural? Thanks for the help.

Original sentence: An analogy is effective when the audience can draw a parallel between the elements of the familiar concept to explain similar or related elements in the new concept.

My version: An analogy is effective when the audience can draw a parallel between the elements of the familiar concept and new concept to explain similar or related elements in the new concept.

Jackson6612 Do you find original version correct and natural? It is natural, but you have discovered the illogic of it, which should be corrected somewhat as you have done.

Though it is easy to see the intended meaning of the original, the word "between" seems not to be used exactly correctly. I think that your version uses the word more accurately.
