an amount lumped together?

Hi,

Are these showing the concept of lumping a total amount as to make it a single amount?

An extra three thousand pesos is needed to place him in a well-fitted apartment.

He failed to follow through with his health regimen and has gained an extra fifteen pounds.

I don't quite understand your terminology-- to me, a total amount = a single amount , but -- yes, the 3000 pesos and 15 pounds can be treated as a single quantity and take the singular verb.
