an accomplished fact

"an accomplished fact"
This seems to be British usage. I wonder what is
the American equivalent. 'An established fact'?
Thank you.

Hello Anon I don't often hear "an accomplished fact" in BrE. It seems to be a self-conscious translation of "fait accompli", which is the idiomatic phrase in BrE. MrP
